The Dog (aka Buddy, Paco, etc) came...and went....

We lived with Buddy for two weeks, and that's as much as we could stand. I'm sure Buddy is a great dog, and will be a great pet...to someone else. He successfully chewed through two collars, one leash, two plastic cups, a water dish, and almost destroyed our garden. Buddy needs to be on a sheep farm...somewhere in England. It's no secret that I was against the dog from the get go. Miraculously, it only took two weeks for my husband and both children to get on board. By the second weekend, Luis was pacing the yard, trying to figure out where we could send the beast, and the boys were being held hostage in the front porch, as we couldn't seem to find a device to restrain the dog effectively. Yesterday, the boys actually told me that they "hated that dog". Luis walked down to the neighbor's house, who was thrilled to take him off our hands. Good bye Buddy...and good riddance!

Australian sheepdogs are high in energy and need a lot of exercise and because of their herding instincts, they need to have a job. I just think the breed wasn't right for your family....maybe a lab would be better. We have Cody, who is 1/2 lab 1/2 boxer and he is absolutely wonderful with Leah and very laid back. If you do decide to purchase another dog, you may want to do some research online to see which breed would be best for your family :) Little dogs are not necessarily better either as some can be high maintenance and bark a ton. If you need help, I know a lot about dogs and would be glad to help out :D Good luck!

Yea, we found that out the hard way, I guess. We mainly took him because he needed a home quickly, and we have 5 acres and thought he would be able to run, etc. Next time (if there ever IS a next time!) we'll have to do more research. I'll be satisfied if we just get a cat! :) But I will definitely be asking you if we try again-Thanks!!

This made me laugh out loud. Picturing the boys being held hostage on the porch - great job Les! MB
