R.I.P.

As of Friday, July 31 at approximately 11:15 am, our air conditioning unit bit the dust. Complete with a boom and hissing for 5 minutes, our treasured unit sighed it's last breath, much to the dismay of those it was leaving behind. It lived a short lifespan of 10 years, performing it's best under the watchful eye of the previous owners, who now reside in Florida, and probably have no air issues whatsoever. It was a tumultuous relationship, marked with annual check ups from the air doctor. Official pronouncement of death has not been made, as the a/c MD has yet to grace us with his presence. Cause of death is unknown, however a suspicious chicken seen at the site is leading to a speculation of fowl play. The case is still under investigation, although there is little hope of closure at this point. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Sweaty Arm Pit Society of Luray, South Carolina.

Shake, rattle and roll...

Today, I decided it was time to officially hang up the lawn mower keys, at least until after Lily is born. Luis had to work today, and also tomorrow, so I decided to cut the grass. I knew he'd be tired after work, but he'd still cut the grass, so I thought I would get it done so he could just rest. As I got to the back yard, which is the bumpiest part of all, I started thinking maybe it wasn't such a good idea for me, at nearly 34 weeks, to be doing this anymore. Is there such a thing as shaken baby syndrome in utero?? Well, just in case, I'll leave the mowing to Luis. When Luis pulled in, I was only halfway through. He said the same thing I was thinking, and asked me not to mow the lawn anymore...I kind of freaked myself out afterwards, because I didn't feel Lily moving like usual. I went in and drank a big glass of water, and lied down on the sofa....sure enough, after a few minutes, there she was again. (Phew!)

Soccer Camp Pics

Cooling off...

Well, the a/c is up and running again. Hopefully that will be the last repair of the season! It's amazing how accustomed we are to a/c...granted, it is 90+ every day, and humid, but we had summer days like that in NY, and we survived with no a/c.

On another note, the boys started soccer camp yesterday. There was a bad thunderstorm right before it was scheduled to begin, and we thought the first day would be cancelled, but thankfully the clouds broke, and it was actually cooler since the bottom had fallen out of the sky. I forgot my camera, but I'll be ready tonight for some great shots. This is the first year Jonathan is old enough to go to camp, and play for the league, so he is beside himself with excitment. Yesterday, I went back to be after making breakfast/lunch for Luis, and I slept in until 10AM. (The boys are so good about waking up, and just playing quietly until I crawl out of bed.) When I went out to the living room, Jonathan already had his shorts, shin guards and soccer socks on. Mind you, soccer camp doesn't start until 6PM each night. I am so glad there are activities in the community for the boys to do. Being homeschooled, they really miss having interaction with other kids, but between soccer and baseball, they are practically playing sports year round. Well, I'm off to make supper and get the kiddos ready.

Pork, anyone??

I am sweating like a pig!! Our air conditioner stopped working again, and the humidity is terrible! The a/c guy came out on Tuesday, and it was working great, until we got home from our crazy day yesterday and I noticed that the air coming from the vents was warm. We have fans going all over the house...moving hot air from room to room. The boys are handling it nicely. I, on the other hand, equipped with my natural heater (Lily) am not doing so well. I hate to be hot. Luis and I are like my Mom and Dad...she likes it cool, Dad likes it warm. At night, I always have a fan going, in addition to the a/c. Poor Luis freezes, and usually sleeps with his San Marcos blanket even in the summer. I am usually not a complainer, as most of you know, but today is an exceptional complaining day! BLAH! Hope the a/c guy can come today, otherwise, it'll be at least Monday. Can all you Northerners blow some cool air this way?? Thanks!
